Pictures here are AI-generated illustrations. If a picture shared by someone else is ever used, it has the @handle of the account that shared it printed beneath it, linked to the post where it first appeared. The Urban Survival Kit does not claim ownership of anyone else’s photos. Short quotes and excerpts are used under the fair use doctrine (17 U.S.C. § 107).

Formal DMCA Takedown Notices
The Urban Survival Kit follows the DMCA process under 17 U.S.C. § 512. A copyright owner or an authorized agent may send a written notice that includes all 6 of these elements:
- A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work said to be infringed, or a representative list if the notice covers several works.
- Identification of the material said to be infringing, with enough detail for The Urban Survival Kit to find it, such as the URL.
- Contact details for the person sending the notice: mailing address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that the sender has a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the sender is authorized to act for the owner of the right said to be infringed.
Send notices to [email protected]. I review valid notices promptly and may remove or disable access to the material.
Counter-Notification
If material was removed by mistake or misidentification, the person who posted it may send a counter-notification with these 4 elements:
- A physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was taken down and the page it was on before it came down.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the sender has a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- The sender’s name, address and telephone number, a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for that address, and agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
After a valid counter-notification, the material may be restored in 10 to 14 business days unless the original sender reports filing a court action.
Repeat Infringers
The Urban Survival Kit will, in appropriate circumstances, remove access for repeat infringers.
False Claims
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages.
